Musings on muses and the process of processing…and pork chops.

Welcome to your Wednesday.  The snow outside is frightful…er…um…delightful.  I was driving back from lunch today in the snow and ran off the road a little bit. Never fear! I’m alright and so is the Fit. The Fit is, in fact, go!  I’m very happy my car and I are alright. I’m also thankful that I will be recording over the next couple of months.

I’m very much looking forward to getting in the studio with Jade, Melody, and Caleb with Paul Cogle at the helm making everything sound glorious.  I’m always in awe when I go into someone else’s studio.  I’m a bit of gear nerd, so, it’s always fun to look at all the things and think about what I want to spend my next paycheck on before I earn it.  One thing I determined, however, is I don’t want to have a recording studio in my house.  All of the past albums I’ve recorded before were in whatever location I was living at the time and engineered mainly by me.  I found it to be a long and tedious process, and I’m happy to let someone else maintain and set up the recording; this frees me up to concentrate on crystalizing the vision of what I want to convey to your listening ears. Having someone else engineer allows for a greater collaboration between all of the parties involved in making a solid album.

The above notwithstanding, it is my hope that I will blog, and even vlog, the goings on over the duration of the recording. It’s seems I’ve been bitten by the recording bug in all facets of my life.  It’s a good thing that Melody and Jade are on board; that way, you don’t have to look at just my graying beard for the whole time.  There are so many things to do and so little time.

Let me remind you that this Friday takes me up to Ski Liberty in Pa.  I’m looking forward to playing with my band of marauders and I think we might have landed on a name for our group! You’ll have to come to find out, or to watch me attempt to ski the next day.

I’ll leave you with a couple of things: First, the questions to you  of which I’m so fond…what gets you through the week when you are feeling low? I know sometimes I get to Wednesday and it’s all I can do to even pick up my guitar.  Personally, I seek out new musicians and artists when I’m feeling a little blue. Second, I was looking around on the interwebs and taking stock of the things I’ve posted and I found a song I’d forgotten about. Oh yeah…I used to have pork chops. Happy Wednesday! And it’s apparently National Hug Day! Go hug someone!
